Random things I learnt while in the US

Five random things I learnt while I was recently in the US:

Flashing red stoplights mean the same thing as a regular stop sign.
Light switches are backwards: up is on, down is off.
Verizon is pronounced [vəˈɹaɪzən], and not, as the comparison to Verisign might suggest, ‘vary-zon’.
Radio station quality is not as bad as I was lead to believe.
It’s easy to remember to drive on the right side of the road. It’s much more difficult to remember to stay on the left side of the lane.
